POWERS LAKE - Erven Nielsen Sr., 84, Powers Lake, died Friday, July 27, 2012, in a Tioga hospital.
He was born Dec. 24, 1927, to Christ and Marie Nielsen, near Lunds Valley. He joined the Army in 1951 and traveled to Germany, Holland and Denmark. He also spent a lot of his Army career helping with the Kansas flood. He married Helen VanBeck on June 17, 1953, in Bowbells.
Survivors: wife; daughters, Gloria Larman, Grafton, Marie Jo Mogren, Kenmare, Roxanne Hanson, Bowbells, Patricia Jensen and Frances Stewart, both Tioga; sons, Erven Jr., Bismarck, Chris, Park River; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Gustafson, Blanco, N.M.
