Mavor Errol Wade, 82, of Kenmare, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, in Rochester, Minn.
Mavor was born Dec. 16, 1929, to Percy and Mary (Shafer) Wade, on their farm northwest of Kenmare. He had six brothers and four sisters. He graduated from Kenmare High School and studied electrical applications at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton for two years. He joined the boxing team while at Wahpeton. Mavor and his brothers Percy, Argyll and Loyce, worked at Percy's gas station in Billings, Mont., for several years and he also did some trucking before Mavor started farming a portion of the family farm his father had homesteaded.
Mavor met Janet DeLong when she worked for his mother. Mavor married Janet on June 14, 1958, at Crosby. They have been married for 53 years. Together they moved to their own place with just a trailer and built their farm a little at a time. Mavor drilled for water, and poured the basement himself. He hauled the shop and other buildings from various sites, fenced in pasture land and planted the shelter belts. They had seven children and mainly raised grain and beef cattle. After retiring, Mavor and Janet remained on the farmstead and rented the farmland. Since October 2010, Mavor and Janet had lived with their daughter Barb Grahek, in Rochester, Minn.
Mavor Wade is preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Mary (Shafer) Wade; his siblings, Woodrow, Twan, Lynas (Tommy) Percy, Argyll (Natalie), Loyce and Royance Wade, and Glaudia Bly (Eugene); his children, Kathy Lynne and Douglas James Wade; and his granddaughter, Melissa Ann Buechler.
He is survived by: his wife, Janet (DeLong) Wade; his sisters, Ardis (Billie) Mortensen, of Williston, and Cheryl (Harley) Dornink, of Rochester, Minn.; as well as his children, Michael Scott Wade, of Indianapolis, Barbara Jean (John) Grahek, of Rochester, Minn., Jeffrey Allen Wade, of Williston, Nancy Sue Wade, of Mandan, and Sandra Jane Wade, of Bismarck; and his grandchildren, Sami and John Tayeb, Travis and Jessica DesLauriers, Felicity and Stevie Kindt and Brittany and Michael Buechler.
Funeral service: Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, located north of Kenmare.
Burial: Will take place at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kenmare.
Visitation: Today, July 24, from 3 to 6 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Kenmare.
