Robert John Cooper, 64, Minot, died on Friday, July 20, 2012, in his home.
Bob was born on July 27, 1947, in Thorold, Ontario, Canada, to John and Roberta (Pelton) Cooper. He was reared there and in Minot where his family moved in 1951. He attended school in Minot, graduated from Minot High School in 1967 and had recently attended Minot State University. He served in the U.S. Navy. Bob married Barbara Weltikol on June 15, 1967, in the Congregational United Church of Christ in Minot. They made their home in Minot where he was employed by Mel's Concrete, Hieb Construction and Herslip Construction. Bob retired due to ill health in 2010.
Bob was a member of the Minot American Legion Post #26 and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, baking, cooking, playing softball and taxidermy.

Bob's loving family includes: his wife of 45 years, Barb; sons, Troy (Marilyn) Cooper and Paul (Tricia) Cooper, all of Minot; grandchildren, Dalton, McKayla, Bradley, Tracie, Hunter and Parker; brother, Gary Cooper of Sabin, Minn.; in-laws, Larry (Jan) Weltikol of Florida, Diane (Dennis) Scott of Minot, Ben (Shar) Weltikol of Watford City, Rex (Stacy) Weltikol of Sawyer and Tammy (John) Sivertson of Souris; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Bob's Life: Wednesday, July 25, at 10 a.m. in the Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot.
Interment: will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
