A Wisconsin man was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and other alleged offenses outside of a downtown Minot bar early Saturday.
The Minot Police Department officers were outside Roosters Bar to respond to a physical fight incident shortly after midnight when a person at the scene pointed out a man possibly concealing a weapon. Officers reported that when they attempted to make contact with the man, later identified as Shawn Larkin, 29, of Milwaukee, Wis., he became aggressive and resisted.
After Larkin was taken into custody, police found a loaded .40 caliber pistol on his person. Larkin was arrested and transported to the Ward County Jail, where he is being held on felony charges of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and preventing arrest. He also is charged with possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a loaded firearm in city limits, both misdemeanors.
