Hilmer Neuharth, 90, of Harvey, formerly of Hurdsfield, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. Funeral services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church of Harvey, which meets at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harvey, on Monday, July 16, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be at Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Sunday, July 15, from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.

Hilmer was born Dec. 3, 1921, near Hurdsfield. He grew up and attended rural school north of Hurdsfield. At the age of 12, he began farming with his father. Hilmer married Adeline Lithun on June 5, 1949, in Harvey. They lived, farmed and raised registered Hereford cattle north of Hurdsfield. Adeline died on Oct. 1, 1999.

Hilmer moved to Harvey in December 1999. Hilmer entered the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey on Nov. 12, 2010.

Hilmer was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Harvey and a former member of the Hurdsfield Lutheran Church. He was also a member of Gideons International and served as treasurer of Crystal Lake Township for a number of years.

Hilmer is survived by: two daughters and sons-in-law, Harriet and Jim Anhorn, of Harvey, Holly and Clayton Fegley, of Berthold; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Erwin Neuharth, of Goodrich.

Hilmer was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Adeline; sisters, Helen Czech and Alvina Moe; and brother, Alfred Neuharth.
