VALLEY CITY (AP) - The mother of a North Dakota college student who went missing on the Fourth of July says her daughter has contacted her.
The disappearance of 22-year-old Valley City State University student Amber Glatt prompted aerial searches in Barnes County over the weekend. Her mother, Amy Rines, says Glatt has had recurring amnesia since suffering a head injury two years ago.
Rines tells the Valley City Times-Record that she believes her daughter's disappearance was related to another bout of amnesia. She declined to say from where her daughter called. Valley City Police Chief Mark McDonald tells KOVC radio that Glatt told her mother she had a flat tire and was picked up by a passing family at Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.
