Martha "Marty" Anderson, 85, Bismarck, formerly of Minot, went home to the arms of her Father on Thursday, July 5, 2012.
Martha J. Bakke was born on Feb. 28, 1927, at Ambrose, to John and Agnes (Opperude) Bakke. She attended grade school and high school in Ambrose and received a secretarial degree from Fargo Business College. She started her work career at The Minot Daily News in 1947. She married Richard Parizek in 1948.
She returned to work at The Minot Daily News in 1964 as head of classified advertising. She later accepted a position as office manager at Northern Plumbing Supply in Minot.
She married John Luxem in 1970 in Las Vegas, Nev. They traveled the country with their 5th wheel and had many exciting adventures. Their country home was beautified by hundreds of flowers each year, planted and cared for by Marty.
Marty had a passion for cooking and took many cooking classes. As a result, their friends were treated to many elegant dinners. She enjoyed modeling for Walter's Women's Wear at their fashion shows at the Minot Country Club and also for Young America at their fashion events at the International Inn.
John Luxem died in 1987. Marty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering at Trinity Hospital. On Jan. 2nd, 1993, Marty married her longtime friend Art Anderson. Their summers were spent at their lake cabin where she manicured the trees and flowers daily. They played golf at the Hazen Country Club and enjoyed the company of their "lake friends." Marty became a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in 2002.
Marty wished to express a special thank you to Art Jr., Lana Anderson and family and Brian Anderson for their kindness and friendship in the past years.
Marty's family extends a special thank you to her beloved friends and staff at Edgewood Vista who loved and cared for her. Thank you also to Spectrum Home Care and Hospice for their support and care to the family during the past few weeks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Bakke; her dear sister and brother-in-law, Addy and Johnny Lozensky; brothers, Leonard Opperud, Edward Bakke, Alton Bakke and Elmer Bakke; her husband, Art Anderson; and her beautiful, beloved granddaughter, Tiffany Lozensky.
Survivors include: daughters, Linda (Keith) Dickinson, Bismarck, Sheila Schoenwald, Jamestown, Barb (Marvin) Masset, and Bev (Larry) Sailer, both of Bismarck; sons, Russ (Nancy) Parizek and Randy (Shirley) Parizek, both of Minot; brothers, Johnny (Thema) Bakke, Burlington, Edwin Bakke, Crosby, Andy (Georgetta) Bakke, Minot, George (Loy) Bakke, Williston, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are her grandchildren who were so special to her. She was proud of them and their accomplishments. They include Jeris (Amy) Lozensky, construction contractor, Melanie (Mark) Anderson, mechanical engineer, Rikki (Justin) Bosh, biologist, Bobbi (Adam) Hall, advocate for homeless and disadvantaged youth, Dr. Lisa (Dereck) Richter, pharmacist, Dr. Tanner Parizek, chiropractor, Ryan Masset, petroleum landman, Jana Masset, architect, Kyla Sailer, cancer radiation therapist, Chris Fast, sales associate, Katie Fast, language arts instructor, Shawna Parizek, administrative assistant, and Reed Parizek, honor student.
Marty was great-grandma to Max, Matt and Mari Anderson, Aiden and Justice Bosh, and Lily and Jed Lozensky.
Celebration of her life: Tuesday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Today, Monday, July 9, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
