Duane Knudtson

Duane L. Knudtson, 72, of Harvey, died Friday, July 6, 2012, at the St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey.

Duane was born on May 21, 1940, at New Rockford. He was the son of Sylvester and Evelyn (Rothacker) Knudtson. The family lived in Carrington and moved to Harvey in 1946. Duane graduated from Harvey High School in 1959. He joined the North Dakota National Guard and served for six years. Duane married Linda Seefeld on June 19, 1963, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selz. They made their home in Harvey. He began working as a carpenter for Albrecht Lumber in Harvey. In 1984 he started Knudtson Construction. He served as a contractor and with the help of his sons built homes and businesses in the Harvey area. He retired in 2002. He and Linda enjoyed mingling with their many friends made over the years. Duane enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing and was an avid pinochle player. He was passionate about his metal detecting and found thousands of coins, tokens and many rings over the years.

Duane was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Country Club and the American Legion, all in Harvey, and was past president and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3080 in Harvey.

Duane is survived by: his wife, Linda of Harvey; daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Tom Rickers of Sartell, Minn.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark and Julie Knudtson, Mitch Knudtson, Monte and Dee Dee Knudtson, all of Harvey; 10 grandchildren; sister, Marlys (Kenny) Stroh of Bowdon.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Mass will be Monday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be today, July 8, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey.

Prayer services will be today, July 8, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
