It is a senator's job to make the laws for our country, from determining the minimum wage to the interest rate on student loans. And someone like Rep. Rick Berg, who doesn't even understand basic laws like the minimum wage, is not equipped to make important and far-reaching laws in the Senate.
Berg proved how out of touch he is with average North Dakotans when he was asked what the minimum wage is, and he responded that he was not sure. Even his campaign staff, the people he has hired to help him appeal to and understand voters, were unsure of the minimum wage.
Berg lacks more than knowledge of our country's most important laws, though. He also lacks an understanding of the average American Americans who, unlike Berg, have middle class incomes. When you're one of the richest members of Congress worth tens of millions of dollars, and when you keep voting to cut your own taxes and put the deficit burden on the backs of those who can least afford it, how can you seriously say that you understand the issues facing most North Dakotans?
Let's elect a senator who understands us someone who understands North Dakota, and who knows what's best for our state. And that person clearly is not Rick Berg.
