Jamestown sweeps Vistas
JAMESTOWN - The Jamestown American Legion baseball team swept the Minot Vistas on Friday, taking game one 13-5 and game two 6-4.
The game one score was 5-5 after three innings, but Jamestown put up seven runs in the fourth to pull away.
"Tonight it was everything," Vistas coach Todd Larson said. "We weren't throwing a lot of strikes in game one. When we did throw strikes, we had a chance to get out of that fourth inning with a couple of double plays and we couldn't turn 'em."
The Vistas (8-13) were held scoreless the rest of the way. Recent Minot High School graduates Brock Krueger and Marcus Quist led the Vistas with two hits apiece.
Jamestown won again in game two despite committing five errors and allowing a home run to Minot's Austin Berntson.
The Vistas play the Bismarck Senior Babe Ruth All-Stars at 4 p.m. Monday at Jack Hoeven Park. The doubleheader marks Minot's first home games of the season.

West Fargo takes two from Metros
WEST FARGO - The Minot Metros couldn't hold a pair of leads Friday against West Fargo, ending a month-long road trip with two losses.
In the first game, the Metros (6-11) scored two in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead, but surrendered a run in the third and two more an inning later en route to a 6-4 loss.
"We're just not getting hits at the right time right now," Minot coach Travis Smith said. "We're getting guys in scoring position and we're not getting the big hit to get them in."
Despite breaking through for seven runs in game two, the Metros fell victim to a big inning. West Fargo crossed the plate seven times in the fourth inning, turning a 1-1 tie into an 8-1 lead. The Metros rallied for three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings but fell 8-7.
Hayden Schwarz went 5-for-8 on the day for Minot. Chandler Jacob had a pair of hits in the second game.
The Metros come home for the first time this season Tuesday for a doubleheader with Williston at Jack Hoeven Park.
