FARGO - After opening Thursday's doubleheader against the Fargo Bombers with two explosive innings, the Minot Metros' bats cooled off.

The Metros (6-9) scored just three runs the rest of the day and lost both games - 10-9 and 12-1.

Minot led 7-2 after two innings of game one but gave up eight unanswered runs.

"Their sticks showed up at the end of the game and ours went dead," Metros coach Travis Smith said.

Alex Mack, Jake Magnuson, Zach Danelson and Hayden Schwarz had two hits apiece to lead Minot.

The Bombers dominated in game two as Tom George tossed a one-hitter over five innings. The Metros had six errors.

"For as much as we're taking our bumps right now, there's a lot of learning taking place," Smith said. "These kids are young and they're learning a lot about how to deal with adversity."

Minot plays at West Fargo in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. today.
