June Binkley

June E. Binkley was born March 6, 1921, in Cooperstown, the daughter of Oscar and Hattie (Johnson) Erickson. She was raised on the family farm and attended Cooperstown High School, graduating in 1938. She attended Valley City State Teachers College, and graduated in 1940, with a degree in education. She taught in the Cooperstown, Parshall and Stanley school systems.

She was united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" Reed Binkley on June 8, 1943, in Kansas City. After Ted's honorable discharge from the Army in October 1945, they returned to Parshall where they made their home.

June was a member of First Lutheran Church in Parshall. She enjoyed helping with the family farm, reading the newspaper, playing cards, fishing, shoe shopping, enjoying a treat at the Tastee Freeze and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger years, she enjoyed riding her horse, Fire Fly.

June Binkley died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Eden Prairie, Minn.

June is survived by her son, Greg Binkley (Joy); daughter, Adele Erickson (Bruce); grandchildren, Gena Kotch (Noah), Jill Conn (Brian), Erin Erickson, Andrea Beecher (Damon); great-grandchildren, Rosemary Kotch, William Kuether, Henry Conn, Theodore Kotch, Elliot Kotch and Oliver Conn; sister, Laura Jean Carlson.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Binkley; her parents; sisters Dolores Olson and Olive Monson; and brother, Duane (Buddy) Erickson.

A funeral will be held to celebrate June's life on Sunday, July 1, at 2 p.m., at Washburn-McReavy, 7625 Mitchell Road, Eden Prairie, Minn.
