Louis R. Schaan, 72, formerly of Berthold, died at his home at 1360 Northampton Circle, Gardnerville, NV 89410, on Monday, June 18, 2012.
He was surrounded by his loving family as he passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father.
Louis was born Oct. 18, 1939. He married Linda Houston in 1961 and they had three children. They farmed until 1976 when he was injured and disabled in a farm accident. In 1988, Louis and Linda moved to Gardnerville to live near family.
Louis' greatest joys in life were his eight grandchildren and loving the Lord. Despite his disability, Louis had a positive attitude, enjoyed life and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by: his wife, Linda; son, Cory, of Goodyear, Ariz.; daughter, Kitty Murphy and husband, Dennis, and son, Kelly and wife, Carla, all of Gardnerville. His eight grandchildren will miss their grandpa greatly. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Bellamy, and a brother, Wendell, both of Ray, brother Fred, of Zillah, Wash., and brothers Dennis and Frank, both of Minot.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Lena and Wendell Schaan; and brothers, Ralph, Joe, Walter and Julius.
A service will be held Friday, June 29, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot. Immediately following the service, there will be lunch and a time of fellowship in the church basement.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family prefers donations to Our Lady of Grace Food Pantry.
