Darlene Roble, 79, of Minneapolis, formerly of Harvey, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the Jones Harrison Care Center in Minneapolis.

Darlene was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Harvey, and grew up there. She attended Minot State College/Trinity School of Nursing, and graduated with her nursing degree in 1954. She married Jerry Roble on Feb. 28, 1954, in Harvey. They raised their five children in Harvey over the next several years. Darlene was a nurse at the St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey for more than 50 years. She loved nursing and caring for others; and practiced in the areas of OB, med/surg, clinic nursing and long-term care over the course of her career.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church and was active in Ladies Aid, Bible studies and circles, and as a parish nurse and Befriender volunteer. She was also a member of Red Hats and Christian Women's Club in Harvey.

Darlene was preceded in death by: her husband, Jerry, on June 11, 1997; her mother and father, Hazel (Hanson) and Oscar Mathison; a sister, Gladys; and her son-in-law, Greg Brombach (Rachelle).

Darlene is survived by: five children, Renae, (Lanny) Conyers, of Fargo, Jay Roble (Michael Mader), of Minneapolis, Craig (DeVona) Roble, of Hillsboro, Kan., Rachelle Brombach, of Minneapolis, and Jon Roble, of Georgetown, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Shelley (Gary) Eslinger, Edina, Minn., and their son Brett (Jen) Eslinger; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Darlene will be remembered for her gentle caregiving to so many frail and ill people, and the unconditional kindness she offered to all who crossed her path. She met everyone with a heartfelt smile and open heart.

Services will be held Tuesday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Harvey.

Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.

Visitation will be Monday, June 25, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Jones Harrison for the wonderful care she received in her final months of life. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Harvey, or to Jones Harrison Care Center in Minneapolis.
