Dolores "Jeanne" Johnson, 88, Minot, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, in a Minot nursing home.

Dolores Jeanne Berntson was born Oct. 8, 1923, a daughter of Benjamin and Maggie (Watson) Berntson. She was raised and educated in Sanish, where she graduated from Sanish High School.

During World War II she worked in Kokomo, Ind., making radios for the war effort. She returned to Sanish to work at the post office, where she later served as postmaster.

On March 20, 1948, Jeanne was united in marriage to Philip A. Johnson. They had two children, Phil and Barbara. Together they lived in Sanish, Kansas City, Stanley, Riverdale and Minot. Dolores and Philip operated the Stanley Hotel, King Koin Laundry Mat and she worked for the Minot school lunch program.

She enjoyed her family and especially her three granddaughters. Dolores used to garden, go camping and fishing and she also loved her pets.

Jeanne is survived by: Husband of 64 years, Philip "Arnold" Johnson, Minot; children, Phil (Rose) Johnson, Devils Lake, Barb Johnson, Fargo; grandchildren, Shayla (Brent) Rekkedal, Devils Lake, Katrina (Tyler) Sapp, Bismarck, Janessa (Michael) Peterson, Minot; great-grandchildren: Maggie Rose Sapp and Chase Anton Rekkedal; sisters, Mabel McBain, Minot, and Ella Michalenko, Minot. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Visitation: Friday, June 22, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Funeral service: Saturday, June 23, 1 p.m., at First Lutheran Church in Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
