RAPID CITY, S.D. - Austin Berntson went 3-for-4 with three triples Sunday as the Minot Vistas beat Sioux Falls West (S.D.) 9-8 to win their second consecutive game.
The Vistas (5-6) ended their tournament in Rapid City on a high note after losing the first three games of the trip.
Dallas Klassen picked up the win and Sheldon Marmon and Casey Ryan had two hits apiece.
Minot scored five runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-4 lead, but SFW answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and another in the sixth to cut the deficit to one. The Vistas added two crucial insurance runs in the seventh to preserve the win over SFW, which was the only team that hadn't lost at the tournament.
"We saw some awfully good competition," Vistas coach Todd Larson said. "That's why we came down here. I think we're getting better; we just gotta continue to get better."
The Vistas travel to Mitchell (S.D.) for a doubleheader beginning at 1:30 p.m. today.
