I just ran into Andy Maragos, local Amtrak agent, about the status of our Minot Amtrak depot after the 2011 flood. He was so glad that we had local boarding, but still temporary in the freight office without baggage checking.
Repairs to full station and services are still in limbo, a year after the flood. Thanks to federal Amtrak funding reductions, waiting for elections, and lack of local/ state/and federal elected officials to demand full Minot Amtrak depot restoration, nothing has been done to totally restore our Minot depot to full restoration.
State Fair and Hostfest are coming up and here we still sit with limited Amtrak service.
No baggage! No thanks for the disabled!
Please, everyone voice my frustration to our city, state, and federal officials to resolve this problem immediately.
Sit on your laurels, and we will lose Amtrak passenger service here in Minot. What a huge loss for our city.
