Measure 2 does not scare me, nor should it scare other North Dakotans unless you base your life on the fear generated by the opponents of Measure 2 (KIL ND). Rather than come up with an alternative plan KIL ND is going across the state and are in the media using fear tactics to scare people into thinking that eliminating property taxes will turn North Dakota into a Third World country. They pay lawyers to scare people while Measure 2 proponents are using grass roots efforts volunteers to speak on their behalf.
Look at the Measure 2 opponents. Many of them are the same people who opposed the 2008 Measure 2 that would cut income taxes. They used the same fear tactic, saying that if you vote for cutting income taxes there will be no reform on property taxes. Those who bought into this fear and voted against the measure in 2008 should ask themselves if the promise of property tax revision came true. No it hasn't. North Dakotan's were lied to back then and are they being lied to now by those opposing Measure 2.
Why are these groups opposing the elimination of any taxes? Because they have a sense of entitlement and think they should have access to your money. That's why they opposed Measure 2 in 2008. They feel entitled to the property tax exemptions they receive and want you to pay for it. If an exemption from property taxes is good for them, why then aren't they good for everyone? If property taxes aren't a problem why then do many of the opponents of Measure 2 ask for an exemption? Measure 2 is a permanent exemption for everyone. I encourage a "yes" vote on Measure 2.
