Ben Carroll, Minot, had his life taken away from him at the young age of 25 on May 1, 2012, and later passed Friday, May 4, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Jerry Benjamin Carroll was born July 19, 1986, the son of Jerry "Kenny" and Corrine Marie (Spaulding) Carroll in Mobile, Ala. At age 7, he moved with his family to Minot where he was raised and educated. During his childhood, Ben played Little League baseball, football and wrestling.
Ben had a heart of gold and the biggest smile. He loved coming home to his four girls (mom, Daisha, Sarah and Erica). His three nieces and two nephews loved to see him walk through the door and would scream, "Uncle Ben!" He loved spending time with them, and enjoyed getting them riled up and spoiling them. Whether it would be some candy at 10 p.m., a trip to the Dairy Queen, playing with them or breakfast in the morning Ben did it all. He was looking forward to being a father and wanted a big family. His happiest moments were when all of his family was spending time together. Ben took care of us all. There are no words to express the devastation of our grave loss.
Ben shared some of his greatest times with Joe and Justin, who he considered his brothers. Many wonderful memories are left with them. Ben was always very active and enjoyed learning many different phases of construction. He had a passion for cooking, and was wonderful at it.
He was also a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.
There will forever be an empty hole in our hearts without our loving Ben. You will be sadly missed our loving son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, nephew, grandson and boyfriend.
Surviving family includes: his daughter, Lorrenna Gracey Carroll (born on April 21, 2012, to Mary Rodriguez); he was also expecting his second daughter, Delilah Mae Carroll, who is due in September, with his girlfriend, "his babe," Tracy Gamble, Minot; mother, Corrine Spaulding, Minot; father, Kenny Carroll, Minot; sisters, Daisha Ann (Justin) Gillmore, Sarah Marie (Chance) Oliver, and Erica Lynn Spaulding Dalen, all of Minot; maternal grandmother, Betty Ann Spaulding, Minot; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ben was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Paul Joseph Spaulding; paternal grandparents, Bonnie Lou and Jerry Benjamin Carroll; aunt, Debra Sue Taylor.
Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, May 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Today, Tuesday, from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service: Today, Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
