FAREWELL SERVICE, BEARD SHAVING, POTLUCK SCHEDULED A joint farewell service will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. in Congregational United Church of Christ, 430 N. Broadway, for the Rev. Frank Picard. Picard has served the Minot church and Hope Congregational United Church of Christ in Granville since Nov. 1, 2006.
There will also be a "beard shaving" as Picard lives up to his promise to the Sunday school children. Picard challenged the Sunday school children from the Minot and Granville churches to raise money for a well-water project in Cameroon, Africa, and the deal was that if they raised a certain amount of money, the children would be allowed to shave his beard. The children raised $769.53, exceeding their goal, so they will be shaving Picard's beard.
A potluck meal will follow the service and beard shaving. People whose last names start with A-L are asked to bring a hotdish or casserole and people with last names starting with M-Z are asked to bring a salad or dessert.
