BISMARCK (AP) - A former North Dakota Republican U.S. House candidate has taken a job as a Bismarck company's director of lobbying.

Shane Goettle is joining the Odney agency. It is an advertising, marketing and public relations firm with North Dakota offices in Bismarck, Fargo and Minot.

Odney President Pat Finken says Goettle will be director of the firm's new public affairs department.

Goettle is a former North Dakota Commerce Department director and aide to North Dakota U.S. Sen. John Hoeven. He's a lawyer who has worked for the U.S. Agriculture Department in Washington.

Goettle is a Mandan resident and native of Donnybrook in northwestern North Dakota.

He recently lost to Brian Kalk in a contest for the Republican endorsement to run for the U.S. House.
