Work on the 55th Street Northeast Bypass is getting an early start this construction season.
Prime contractors Gladen Construction, of Laporte, Minn., and Ames Construction, of Burnsville, Minn., will begin work this week on the project initiated last year. Ackerman-Estvold Engineering is the project engineer for the $17.1 million bypass.
The City of Minot, Ward County and North Dakota Department of Transportation will be holding weekly public meetings that will include the contractors and engineer. The first meeting was held Tuesday in the Minot district office of the North Dakota Department of Transportation at 1305 U.S. Highway 2 Bypass East.
The Northeast Bypass will result from upgrades to Ward County Road 10A, 46th Avenue Northeast and 55th Street Northeast. Gladen Construction is in charge of this portion of the project.
The 55th Street Northeast bridge over Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad will carry traffic over the mainline track, existing yard tracks and additional proposed yard tracks to be constructed north of the existing tracks. Ames Construction is responsible for this section.
Due to work along these roads, there will be intermittent closures. Traffic is encouraged to take appropriate detours as signage on the project directs.
