Bernice E. Lund, 88, Tioga, N.D., passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Trinity Medical Center, Minot. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Tioga. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Tioga. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley and one hour before the service.
Bernice Anna Elsie Doede was born May 1, 1923, in Valley City, N.D., to Elsie (Haslow) and Henry Doede. She was raised in Minot along with her older sister, Inez and younger brother, Richard who were very dear to her heart. She attended school in Minot and went on to earn her cosmetology license. She moved to Stanley for her first job where she met her soul mate, Raymond Spencer Lund. They were united in marriage on Nov. 30, 1946. To this union they were blessed with 6 children.
In 1958, Bernice, Ray and family moved to Tioga, N.D., to start their excavation business. They enjoyed their lives with friends and community. Ray passed away in 1993. Bernice continued her life doing what she loved in Tioga. She was an active lifetime member of First Lutheran Church, Tioga Senior Citizens and the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW in Tioga. Her passions, besides family and friends, were reading, sewing and knitting. She knit numerous pairs of slippers and potholders which she donated to various military causes, family members and friends.
Bernice is survived by her children, Jeanette (Dean) Domsten, Elko, Nev., Judy (Guy) Barrett, Ida Grove, Iowa, Roy (Pam) Lund, Rugby, N.D., Rodney (Kathy) Lund, Minot, N.D., Ronnie Lund, Tioga, N.D. and Shirley Lund, Dickinson, N.D.; 9 precious grandchildren and their spouses and 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Carol) Doede, Carson City, Nev.; sisters-in-law Ann Brandt, Crosby, N.D. and Olga Furhman, Fessenden, N.D.; brother-in-law, Helmer Lund, Stanley, N.D.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Henry and Elsie Doede; sister, Inez Smith; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in law.
