Area students were named to the Class A Academic All State Team for 2011-2012.
Area members of the Gold Team include John Hoffer and Karl Joyner, both Minot High School. Area members of the Silver Team include Jorrie Brettin, Minot High School. Area members of the Bronze Team include Connor Bowley, Minot High and William Raymond, Williston.
Honorable mentions went to Kaitlyn Weatherspoon, Samantha Christman, Elizabeth Klingbeil, Kayla Berg and Alex Buchholz, all Minot High; Lianna Slabodnik, John Bickler and Mallory Nygard, all Williston; Daniel Nicla, Jennifer Brandt and Jace Riggin, all Devils Lake.

The students were nominated by their high school principal and competed for the honor on a state-wide basis in the Class A division. Student selection was based on overall grade-point averages, ACT or SAT test scores, extra curricular activities, community involvement and leadership qualities.
Co-sponsored by the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals and the NBC North Dakota Sports Network, the Academic All-State Team will be presented with certificates and a medallion during a televised "Parade of Champions" at the Class A Basketball Tournament in Fargo today.
