Region tournament roundups

NEW TOWN - Fourth-ranked New Town got 21 points from Baeleigh Brady and 13 from Gabby Wilkinson in the Eagles' 56-53 rally past Watford City in the semifinals of the Region 8 tournament on Tuesday.

The Eagles (23-0) trailed after each of the first three quarters including a 30-25 deficit at halftime. Watford City got a team-high 14 points from Katie Mogen in the loss.

New Town meets rival Parshall for the championship game at 7:30 tonight, while North Shore and Watford City play for third place at 6 p.m.

Parshall held off North Shore 42-36 in a game that saw incredible balance from the Braves, who had eight players score but none in double figures. Devanee Hale and Nicole Packineau each had eight.

North Shore's Cassie Bailey had a game-high 14 points.

Mustangs pull major upset at R4

DEVILS LAKE - Shaye Ronningen had a team-high 20 points and Emily Berge added 17 as Midkota overcame an eight-point deficit going into the fourth quarter in a 49-46 upset of defending state champion and No. 1-ranked Carrington at the Region 4 tournament on Tuesday.

Emily Thompson finished with 23 points for the Cardinals, who suffered just their second loss of the season. Midkota meets Lakota-Adams-Edmore for the championship at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

L-A-E edged North Star 62-56 behind Fallon Freije's 24 points. North Star was led by Kelsey Teubner's 16.

Grant County, Shiloh advance at R5

MANDAN - Shiloh Christian defeated Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky 44-37 in a Region 5 semifinal Tuesday to advance to Thursday's championship against Grant County.

Mikayla Forness led the Skyhawks with 12 points and Chloe Bayless paced the Trojans with 15.

Grant County, ranked No. 8 in the state, defeated New Salem-Almont 61-51 to advance. Ashley Werner led the Coyotes with 19 points, Ashley Bentz had 13 and Chelsey Lince chipped in 10.

TL-M-M and NS-A play in the third-place game at 6 p.m. Thursday. The championship between Grant County and Shiloh Christian is scheduled for approximately 7:30 p.m.

Bison advance to R7 title game

DICKINSON - Paige Burling had a game-high 18 points as Hazen moved into the Region 7 tournament championship game with a 52-50 win over Bowman County on Tuesday.

Morgan Karges had 10 for the Bison, who held slim leads at each of the quarter breaks and play Beach for a berth in the Class B state tournament.

Beach downed Killdeer 73-37.
