Final draft of flood plan on schedule

February 28, 2012

The promised final draft of the proposed flood protection plan for Minot is said to be on schedule and due to be delivered Wednesday.

Comprehensive cost estimates will be included in the document set to be handed to members of the Mouse River Advisory Committee at 2 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall.

"This is the plan that we were tasked to deliver by the State Water Commission and the stakeholders," said Ryan Ackerman, engineer with Ackerman-Estvold Engineering & Management Consulting. "It is the final deliverable report. There's a lot of information to digest. It will take some time to determine the feasibility."

Once the costs of various portions of the flood control project are presented to the city and the committee, the plan then must be compared to available funding to determine affordability as to what might or might not be constructed.

"After this, I don't really know," said Ackerman. "We'll see what happens."
