At Tuesday's meeting of the Ward County Board of Commissioners, Ward County sheriff's deputy Nic Boys received an award from the North Dakota Department of Transportation for outstanding work in enforcing highway safety.
Boys personally accounted for about 25 percent of the total Ward County citations written during a concentrated overtime effort from late 2010 to the end of 2011 to enforce highway safety rules.
Kukowski said when including his department, the Minot office of the North Dakota Highway Patrol and the Minot Police Department, Ward County's total nearly tripled the number of citations written by the next-highest county.
