Tauros struggle in loss to Aberdeen

January 22, 2012

The Minot Minotauros lost ground in their attempt to establish any kind of momentum with a 7-1 loss against North American Hockey League Central Division foe Aberdeen on Saturday at Maysa Arena.

The Tauros trail the Aberdeen Wings, who currently hold the last playoff spot. The Tauros failed to capitalize on power plays, going 0-3.

The Wings offense positioned themselves early and often and applied pressure on Tauros goalie Jake Hebda by scoring on three of the fourteen shots they attempted in the first period to give them a 3-0 lead that wouldn't be relinquished.

By the time Tauros captain Ben Hughes had scored the team's only goal early in the second period, the competitive phase of the game had nearly concluded. The Wings added two more goals in the second period.

The Wings attacked the Tauros by utilizing a number of different offensive weapons, as six different players scored a goal.

The Tauros finish the second half of their doubleheader against the Wings at 2:35 p.m. today at Maysa Arena.
