FARGO (AP) - A Bismarck man seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate says North Dakota should build a nuclear power plant.
Duane Sand says there's a mandate to build a minimum of 20 nuclear plants in 20 years across the country. He says the Red River Valley in the eastern part of the state is a good fit because the ground is stable with no fault lines and there's water nearby with the Red River.
Sand says the plant would employ 3,000 people.
A spokeswoman for North Dakota Rep. Rick Berg, who's also seeking the Republican Senate nomination, had no comment on Sand's plan.
