This summer, several communities along the Souris River truly understood the impact of what it means to Live United. Amidst the disbelief, devastation, and frustration came numerous stories of people reaching out to help family members, neighbors and even people they had never met. Each time someone helped another, a life was changed.
Souris Valley United Way and its 20 local partner agencies are dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people of the Minot community and the surrounding area every day of the year. Programs offered through our partner agencies affect every age with a wide variety services.
-75,000 meals delivered annually to seniors
-Youth programs provide recreational activities and leadership training
-Victims of domestic violence receive emergency shelter and counseling services
-Assistance given to homeless people in our area
-Coordination of thousands of volunteers provides service throughout our community
-Counseling services provide lifesaving intervention and support
Whether it is in times of crisis or just everyday, these local agencies are meeting the needs of our community. You can make a difference in the lives of thousands of people, right here in Minot and the surrounding communities, by making a donation to the Souris Valley United Way.
I invite you to visit our website (www.svunitedway.com) or call 839-2994 to learn more about the local agencies which are making a difference in the Minot area.
Together we can accomplish what none of us can achieve alone.
(Leslie Coughlin is the campaign chair for 2011)
