FARGO Velva High School won the State Class B North Dakota Cheer Coach Association Fall State Cheer Competition in Fargo on Nov. 12.
It was the first time that Velva has won the competition, said Molly Kaylor, a parent of one of the girls on the team.
Bishop Ryan High School placed second overall.

The team's stunt group placed second in the stunt competition. Stunt group participants were Kylie Mindt, Erin O'Shea, Tricia Johnson, Emily Larson and Grace Keller. Ryan placed first in the stunt competition.
