SHERWOOD - Vivian Florence DesLauriers, 91, of Sherwood, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday morning, Nov. 11, 2011, at the home of her daughter in Belle Fourche, S.D. She lived a long and happy life, loved by family and friends.
Vivian was born in Sherwood on May 29, 1920, to Frederick and Florence (Sorenson) Bernsdorf. She met the love of her life, Louis DesLauriers, while in school. Both Louis and Vivian worked in Seattle during World War II, Louis in the shipyards and Vivian as a clerk for Boeing.
Louis and Vivian married on June 27, 1944, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Mohall. They were active members of St. James Catholic Church in Sherwood. They lived on, and farmed, land west of Sherwood for most of their lives, until they retired in 1987 and moved to town. Louis died later that year, after 43 years of marriage. Vivian remained in Sherwood until 2006, when she moved to Belle Fourche to live with her daughter, Denise.
Family: Vivian is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Miller, Sherwood, Joan (Dan) Smith, Valley City, Denise (Ken) DesLauriers, Belle Fourche, S.D., Laurie (Rob) Duncan, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; son, Lynn (Carol) DesLauriers, Rapid City, S.D.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Darrell (Clarice) Bernsdorf, Minot; sister, Gail Curle, Minot; sister-in-law, Darlene Bernsdorf, Minot; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Howard and Curt Bernsdorf; and great-granddaughter, Cheryl Lorie Olson.
Funeral: Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood.
Burial: Sherwood Union Cemetery.
Vigil: Today, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m., at St. James Catholic Church in Sherwood.
Visitation: Today from noon to 5 p.m. at Brose Funeral Home Mohall.
