Through Friday Farmers and ranchers who suffered losses due to flooding in 2011 may file for federal cost share assistance through Nov. 18. The Emergency Conservation Program provides assistance to help producers with the costs associated with rehabilitating cropland and returning the land to agricultural production. Ward County producers may apply for assistance to remove debris from cropland and/or restore permanent fencing. The application must be filed before work begins. Although Ward County has been approved to accept ECP applications, funding is not currently available. Contact the Ward County FSA office at 852-5434 for more information.

Dec. 19 - Introductory Basic Core Training, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST, statewide via Internet videocast. The training is designed for commercial or public applicators/dealers who are new to pesticide certification in N.D. It will cover basic pesticide safety and handling practices, as well as relevant laws and regulations as they pertain to the distribution and use of pesticides. This training is not category specific, and should be useful to all applicators/dealers. The training also will describe the certification process and how to prepare and take exams to obtain a pesticide certificate.
