Blanche Sauvageau, 85, Minot, formerly of Anamoose, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Trinity Nursing Home in Minot.
Blanche Hammack, daughter of Romey and Agnes (Gunderson) Hammack, was born June 13, 1926, at Garrison, where she grew up and attended school.
On Oct. 5, 1944, she was married to Alcid "Al" Sauvageau in Fargo where they made their home. In December 1961 they moved to Anamoose where they purchased Wallys' Bar and Cafe which they operated as Al and Blanche's Bar until retiring in 1993. In 1996 they moved to Minot where Blanche had resided since. Al passed away Aug. 20, 2003.
While living in Anamoose, Blanche was a member of St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church and, upon moving to Minot, became a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Blanche is survived by one daughter, Connie (Monte) Lawson, of Minot; four sons, Ronald (Linda), of Ham Lake, Minn., Duane, of Devils Lake, Darrell (Gloria), of Hazen, and Mark (Barbara), of Minot; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lafeyette Hammack, of Gary, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one grandson, Duane; a brother, Duane; a sister, Mildred; and two half-brothers, Virgil and Clem Clark.
Funeral: Monday, Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose.
Prayer Service: Sunday, 7 p.m., at the church.
Burial: St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Anamoose.
