Why would Joel Heitkamp encourage his sister, Heidi Heitkamp, to run for the U.S. Senate? Obviously the Democrats need someone with statewide name recognition to run for the vacant Senate seat.
In addition, some Democrats feel it's important to elect someone who will support President Barack Obama's liberal agenda. If you remember, Heidi Heitkamp was at the forefront campaigning for President Obama, saying that he would do such great things for the country. I am extremely concerned that she would help President Obama and the Democrats reshape their liberal vision of America.
We've seen how senators Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan sided with Obama. We need to elect a senator who will repeal these failed policies, and stop passing our debt on to our children.
