SLANGER RETIRING, OPEN HOUSE PLANNED The Rev. George Slanger is retiring from his position as volunteer assisting priest at All Saints Episcopal Church in Minot, effective Oct. 16. He and his wife, Joanne, will be moving to Lakeville, Minn., where their daughter lives.

He was ordained a priest in the church in 2001, after a 29-year teaching career at Minot State University. He also served as chair of humanities from 1989 to 1997. He has graduate degrees in English from San Francisco State University and the University of Washington.

An open house for the Slangers will be held at the Blue Rider, 118-1st Ave. SE, on Oct. 16 from 7 to 11 p.m.

ANNUAL ROAST BEEF FALL SUPPER TO BE HELD IN BUTTE CHURCH The annual roast beef fall supper will be Oct. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Butte.

The cost will be $8 for adults and $4 for youth under age 12. There will be no charge for preschoolers.

A bake sale and raffle will be held in conjunction with the supper.

DATE SET FOR KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS 4TH DEGREE SPAGHETTI SUPPER The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Monsignor Raith Assembly 748, will host a spaghetti feed Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Knights of Columbus Clubrooms, 2601 N. Broadway.

The cost will be $8 per person.

CHRISTIAN WOMEN'S CLUB TO MEET TUESDAY Minot Christian Women's Club will meet Tuesday from 12:15 to 2 p.m. in the Grand International Inn, Minot.

Linda Smette, owner of the Cozy Cottage in Granville, will share information on her furniture restoration, antiques and the home decor she sells. George Helm and Willie Rose, of Minot, will provide music and the speaker, Karen Mitchell, of Ely, Minn., will share her story, "Adventures in Moving."

DATE SET FOR ANNUAL FALL LUTEFISK, MEATBALL DINNER IN BOTTINEAU CHURCH A lutefisk and lefse and meatballs and gravy dinner will be served by the men of First Lutheran Church, Bottineau, Oct. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m.

The cost will be $13 for adults, $10 for youth who are in junior high, high school and college and $6 for children in grade school. Children under age 6 will not be charged.

Take-out meals will be available for an additional $1 per plate. Deliveries will also be offered at $1 per plate more by calling 228-2228 prior to Oct. 16.
