WND SYNOD GIFTS EVENT SCHEDULED OCT. 8 The next WND Synod Growing in Faith to Serve (GIFTS) event will be Oct. 8 in Bethany Lutheran Church, 215-3rd Ave. SE. Christ Lutheran, Minot, will host the Kent Knutson Memorial lecture which will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. and conclude by 4 p.m. The Rev. Craig Koester, professor of New Testament at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., will present the topic, "The Book of Revelation."

Koester is the principal designer of The Bible Tutor, an easy-to-use method of self-study. Each page summarizes a Biblical book, key figure, place, or event. He has also written a book for lay people, A Beginner's Guide to Reading the Bible.

Registration, $10, is requested by Oct. 3 and may be paid by sending a check made payable to WND GIFTS to Jan Zook, P.O. Box 101, Bowbells, ND 58721. Participants are encouraged to bring their Bible.

AFRICAN CHILDREN'S CHOIR TO PERFORM FREE CONCERT IN MINOT The Grammy-nominated African Children's Choir will perform a free concert Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. in First Assembly of God Church, 1805-2nd St. SE.

The African Children's Choir program features well-loved children's songs, traditional Spirituals and rhythmic gospel favorites.

Proceeds from choir performances allow the African Children's Choir to raise global awareness of the plight of the millions of orphaned and abandoned children in Africa. Donations directly support the expansion of sponsorship and education programs for both the current Choir children and the thousands of other students they represent.

LANSFORD FALL FAIR BEING HELD TODAY The annual Lansford Fall Fair will be held today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lansford Community Center. There will be a bake sale and tickets may be purchased for a Basket of Bounty raffle.

A lunch of soup, bread and pie will be served. Several vendors will also be present.

The event is sponsored by the three churches of Lansford.

HAZEN QUARTET TO PERFORM CONCERT IN TIOGA CHURCH ?The Occasional Gospel Quartet, from Hazen, will perform in concert Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. in First Lutheran Church, Tioga.

A freewill offering will be received. A time of coffee and fellowship will follow the concert.

LUTEFISK, MEATBALL DINNER TO BE SERVED IN MINOT CHURCH TODAY ?A lutefisk and meatball dinner will be served today from 2 to 7 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, 1800 Hiawatha St. The dinner will be served family style and will include lefse and homemade pie.

Tickets will be $15 for adults and $7 for youth ages 6 to 12. Children age 5 and under will be allowed to eat free of charge.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will provide matching funds.

ANNUAL SWISS STEAK SUPPER TO BE SERVED SUNDAY IN VELVA CHURCH The annual swiss steak fall supper will be served Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Velva. Baked goods and farmers market items will also be sold.

The cost will be $8 for adults, $4 for youth ages 6-12 and $2 for children ages 2-5.

Proceeds, to be used for the religious education program, will be matched by the Catholic United Financial up to $500.

GAITHER PIANIST TO PERFORM CONCERTS IN MINOT CHURCH ?Gordon Mote, a multi-talented singer/songwriter pianist from Alabama, will perform in concert Oct. 2 at 8:30 and 11 a.m. in First Assembly of God Church, 1805-2nd St. SE.

Totally blind from birth, Mote has played the piano since he was 3 years old.

He is on tour with Gaither Homecoming.
