By DAILY NEWS STAFF , Minot Daily News

MEDORA The Burning Hills Amphitheatre in Medora will wrap up its 2011 season with a special show and reunion of sorts Saturday.

Paulette Carlson founder and lead singer of Highway 101 will join North Dakota's own Radio Stars for a live performance of "Dakota Air: The Radio Show."

Lead singer Merrill Piepkorn and other members of the Radio Stars, incidentally, played with Carlson across the upper Midwest in the '70s band and regional sensation, Skunk Hollow.

The Sept. 17 show at Medora's Burning Hills Amphitheatre begins at 2:30 p.m. local time with a 90-minute performance of "Dakota Air: The Radio Show," a variety show hosted by Piepkorn as executive producer.

The radio-show portion will be aired live statewide and beyond on Prairie Public's radio network, and will also feature cowboy poet Rodney Nelson, singer-songwriter Jessie Veeder Scofield, actor and creative director Steve Stark in his portrayal of Theodore Roosevelt, former Burning Hills Singers Levi and Bethany Andrist and plenty of comedy.

A concert featuring Carlson and the Radio Stars will follow Dakota Air for ticket-holders only. And for the hungry, a barbecue lunch will be available up on the hill at Tjaden Terrace beginning at 12:30 p.m. (tickets available separately).

Tickets for this special performance and concert are $25. For show tickets, and for information about special lodging packages and the barbecue, call (800) MEDORA1 or visit (www.medora.com).
