BENEFIT BREAKFAST TO BE HELD FOR BERTHOLD BOY A pancake, sausage and eggs breakfast benefit for Wade Asmundson, 2-year-old son of Stephanie and Mark Asmundson, of Berthold, will be Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Berthold. A silent auction will also be held.
Wade was diagnosed with a large brain tumor on July 29. The malignant tumor was removed the next day. He will be undergoing chemotherapy and a stem cell rescue and transplant at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will provide matching funds.

CHRISTIAN WOMEN'S CLUB TO MEET TUESDAY Minot's Christian Women's Club will meet Tuesday from 12:15 to 2 p.m. in the Grand International Inn. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $10, inclusive.
Auctions, both silent and live, will be held. Garden produce, baked goods and preserves will be available for sale. There will also be an "old bag" area for gently used purses looking for new owners. The live auction will include a handmade quilt and gift baskets. Items may be donated for the auction.
Karol Rae Rokala, of Grand Rapids, Minn., will be the speaker. She will share her story, "Empty Dreams."

FALL WELCA GATHERING SET FOR SEPT. 24 "Find It Here" is the theme for the fall gathering of the Western Prairie Cluster of the Women of the ELCA, which will be held Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in American Lutheran Church in Stanley. Prairie Lutheran Parish will host the event.
Individuals may bring a "love offering" of hats, mittens and coats for Stanley Elementary School. Each unit is also asked to bring a monetary donation to support churches that were flooded this spring.
A time of fellowship, devotions, and music will be a part of the day's events as well as a short officer training providing information that local units may use during the coming year. The afternoon will feature a presentation by Larry Lystad about his trip to Central America. A light breakfast and noon lunch is included in the $7 registration fee.
Women interested in attending this event should contact their unit president or cluster secretary, Gayle Gorseth, at 453-3271 by Sept. 19 to register.
PRIMETIMERS TO MEET THURSDAY The PrimeTimers Fellowship group from Our Redeemer's Church will meet Thursday at 2 p.m. in the church fellowship hall at 700-16th Ave. SE.
The program will be presented by Donelda Grubb. She will show slides and tell about her work as a teacher in Mongolia.
Refreshments will be served by Group 2.
