Portable classrooms that will be used as classrooms for students displaced by the recent flood could be seen on the grounds of the Jefferson Early Childhood Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Minot Public Schools Supt. Mark Vollmer said the portable classrooms will be stored there until the ground at the various sites can be prepared to set up the classrooms. Portable classrooms will be used on the grounds of the Minot Municipal Auditorium, where Erik Ramstad Middle School students will attend classes; on the grounds at Longfellow Elementary School and at Jefferson Early Childhood Center, where Minot Head Start children will attend classes.
Ramstad students will attend classes inside the Municipal Auditorium as well as in the portable classrooms.

These portable classrooms at the Jefferson Early Childhood Center will be a common sight in the coming school year as many Minot students were displaced by flooding.
School in Minot will start on Sept. 6. Vollmer said the portable classrooms will be connected to one another with a "breezeway" so that students don't have to walk outside in the winter and will include restroom facilities.
