Bethany Andreasen, associate professor of history, is the new director for first-year experience and engagement at Minot State University, according to Beth Odahlen, director of Minot State University's Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning. Andreasen starts her new duties Aug. 15.
"The CETL staff and I are very excited to welcome Andreasen as the director for first-year experience and engagement," Odahlen said. "She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in first-year learning communities."
Andreasen's responsibilities include organizing the first-year engagement learning community program and coordinating the infusion of engagement activities into courses and programs across MSU and the community. Vision 2013 requires campus, community and professional engagement throughout each student's academic career.

The director for first-year experience and engagement position has a two-year rotation and was created by combining two part-time positions.
"The First-Year Experience program is helping our freshmen find their place more quickly within the academic community at MSU," Andreasen said. "I look forward to working with the students, faculty and staff who are investing their energy and creativity into this program and also to assisting with efforts to increase student engagement in the local community."
