BRIEFS - Symphony League plans garden tour

The Minot Symphony League's 17th annual Secret Garden Tour and Garden Store is set for Aug. 7 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Gardens on the tour include those of Gladys Lowell in north Minot, Doramae Tarvestad in northwest Minot, and Janet Dammen, Peggy Schumaier, Sharon Desilets and Rob Lowe in southeast Minot.

Advance tickets are available at sponsors, including Lien's Jewelry, the Yarn Stash and Mohall Flower House Garden Center, and at gardens the day of the tour.

Admission is $12 for adults and children older than 12. Part of proceeds will be donated to the Minot Area Recovery Fund. For more information, call 858-4228.

Singers sought for Chamber Chorale

The Minot Chamber Chorale is seeking singers for the upcoming season. The Chorale was founded more than 36 years ago and is the only mixed community choir in Minot. Singers make a commitment to perform in the four concerts each season including a fall pops concert, Renaissance Christmas feast, classical works concert and spring sampler concert and ice cream social. Sibyl Center hosts cabaret fundraiser

STANLEY The Sibyl Center in Stanley presents Jensen's Cabaret Show Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Bob Jensen, singer, storyteller and pianist, will entertain with cabaret songs, ballads and other favorites. The evening's entertainment is all in good taste ... including the elegant desserts, coffee and punch provided by servers. Donations at the door benefit flood victims throughout the greater Minot area.

The recipient agency for the donations will be Minot Area Recovery Fund, set up by the Minot Area Community Foundation.

Sidewalk chalk artists invited

BISMARCK The Bismarck Art and Galleries Association is looking for artists who are experienced in the art of sidewalk chalk drawing. The group seeks artists who will complete a work of art in chalk on an approximately 10-foot by 10-foot sidewalk square during Capital A'Fair, Aug. 6-7. Artists must supply their own materials.

Capital A'Fair is a juried fine art and crafts fair held annually on the North Dakota State Capitol grounds. The sidewalk art squares will be located on the mall of the Capitol grounds.
