STANLEY The Fourth of July time is always a big deal at the Sibyl Center in Stanley and this year is no exception.

Saturday evening, local favorites Stan Wright and Gordie Patten will kick off the fun with the Stan and Gordie Show presenting a variety of music for listening and dancing including swing, country and patriotic, starting at 7 p.m.

Then, Sunday and Monday, the Radio Stars return to the Sibyl Center in Stanley with both evening and a daytime performances.

"Combine a whole lot of energy with a distinctive take on modern and traditional Western-style tunes, and you've got The Radio Stars," according to National Public Radio.

In 2009, the band performed for millions on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion radio show, and have appeared at Norsk Hstfest.

Along with vocals by all band members, Merrill Piepkorn plays guitars and harmonica, Gregg "Smokey" Temple plays electric, acoustic and pedal steel guitars, R. P. Sell plays bass guitar, and Loy Larson plays fiddle and mandolin.

In addition to the western and cowboy tunes, The Radio Stars can keep a dance floor packed with two-steps, waltzes, and a polka or two, as well as an occasional truck drivin' song.

The group performs at 7 p.m. Sunday, and 3 p.m. Monday.

Admission is by freewill donation at the door. For more information, log on at (www.sibylcenter.org) or call 628-3339.
