COMMUNITY PRAYER SERVICE TO BE HELD TODAY Faith and Vincent United Methodist churches will host a community prayer service in Vincent United Methodist Church, 1024-2nd St. SE, today at 5 p.m.
BENEFIT SUPPER TO BE HELD FOR MINOT WOMAN A benefit supper, along with a silent auction and a live auction, will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in Our Redeemer's Church, 700-16th Ave. SE, for Annette Fix, of Minot. A freewill offering will be received for the supper.
Fix was diagnosed with breast cancer in January, had surgery in February and started chemotherapy in March.
Supplemental funds will be provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. A benefit fund has been set up at First Western Bank & Trust of Minot by the Friends of Annette Fix.
EVACUATION NEWS
--Faith United Methodist Church has canceled its Sunday service and concert by Ernie Couch & Revival Band, from Nashville.
During the flood evacuation Faith United services will be held Sundays at 11 a.m. at Vincent United Methodist Church, 1024-2nd St. SE, following a combined coffee and fellowship time which will begin at 10:30 a.m.
The 5:15 p.m. Wednesday services will be in the Vincent United chapel during the evacuation. There will be no simple supper.
--Peace Lutheran Church, of Burlington, will worship with the congregation of Saron Lutheran Church, of rural Minot, on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Saron Lutheran is 9 miles south of Minot and a mile west on County Road 18).
ELCA congregations located in the evacuation zones will be joining sister-congregations in Minot on Sunday for worship:
--First Lutheran will worship with Zion Lutheran, 1800 Hiawatha St., at 8:30 and 11 a.m.
--Augustana Lutheran will worship with Bread of Life, 1415-17th Ave. SW, today at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
--Christ Lutheran will worship with Bethany Lutheran, 215-3rd Ave. SE, Sunday at 9 a.m.
--The parish office of Little Flower Catholic Church, 800 W. University Ave., is closed due to the flood evacuation.
There are no activities or Masses scheduled until further notice.
--All religious services have been canceled at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 2600 W. Central Ave., through this weekend.
--Berean Baptist Church will hold services Sundays at 11 a.m. in the Carnegie Center, 105-2nd Ave. SE, until further notice.
CANCELLATIONS Under God's Canopy sessions, scheduled for Monday through Thursday at the Jefferson Early Childhood Center, in Minot, will not be held this year.
The Nondenominational Bible Talk scheduled for Sunday in the Carnegie Center has been canceled.
