Rugby senior serves as officer at Boys State

By ANDREA JOHNSON - Staff Writer (ajohnson@minotdailynews.com) , Minot Daily News

RUGBY Chris Seaver, who will be a senior at Rugby High School this fall, was elected lieutenant governor at Boys State held in Wahpeton June 12 through June 17. Seaver will represent North Dakota at Boys Nation in the nation's capital from July 22 to July 30.

"I'm definitely excited," said Seaver, who called Boys State a valuable first-hand experience that has helped him understand state government better. The high school juniors who attended the event participated in mock city and state government activities. Because of the flooding this spring in the state, the boys did a simulated disaster emergency exercise related to how a city would handle such an emergency.

Seaver has hopes of one day attending medical school but said he'd also consider law as a possible career after attending Boys State.
