GRAND FORKS Area native Lisa Linrud received the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks 2011 Distinguished Thesis Award May 6 at a ceremony held in the North Dakota Museum of Art.
Linrud's thesis, a collection of poems titled "In Grain," was selected from among 84 theses submitted between June 2010 and May 2011 at UND.
Linrud characterizes her poems as illustrating "the beauty hidden within the challenges of the family farm."

A majority of the poems in her thesis are currently being published in chapbook format by Finishing Line Press. The chapbook is due to be released this month and is available at (finishinglinepress.com). It will also be available on Amazon.com Inc. later this month.
Linrud is a 2004 graduate of Velva High School. She completed her bachelor of arts degree at UND in 2007 and earned her masters of arts degree in 2010.
