Medora Musical variety acts announced

MEDORA The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation recently announced its lineup of nationally known comedy and variety acts to be featured during the 2011 season of the Medora Musical.

This year, audiences will be entertained not only by the talented Burning Hills Singers and Coal Diggers band, but also by variety acts ranging from an acrobat and aerial circus artists to a motivational comedian and a ventriloquist.

The Medora Musical, a professionally produced, high energy, Western style revue set in the Burning Hills Amphitheater in the North Dakota Badlands, kicks off June 10 and features nightly performances at 8:30 p.m. MDT through Sept. 10.

"The Medora Musical is fun for the whole family and features great music, fireworks, horses, and outstanding professional entertainment," said Randy Hatzenbuhler, director of the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. "People are already making their Medora vacation plans for this summer, so we remind visitors that it's not too early to reserve their musical tickets or book their vacation plans now."

Rudi Macaggi "The Acromedian"

Rudi Macaggi is a third-generation circus acrobat from Italy. He grew up performing with his family and traveling the world, becoming fluent in Italian, French, Spanish and English. He first came to the United States in 1982 while performing with a circus and eventually ran away from the circus to pursue a solo career that has taken a unique path, combining acrobatics with comedy, and earning him the nickname "The Acromedian." Macaggi has appeared on the hit TV show America's Got Talent and strives to bring happiness to people in each performance, inspiring laughter and smiles with his friendly catchphrase, "I like you."

Aloft

Aloft is an internationally renowned collective of aerial and circus artists dedicated to providing awe-inspiring and memorable performances. Founded by Shayna Swanson in 2005, with the acclaimed full length show "Rolling Backouts," Aloft put an innovative spin on traditional circus acts, creating art that spilled over with beauty, wonder and solid storytelling. Since then Aloft has created three more full-length productions, "Dinner of Our Discontent," "The Silentest Movie," and "Science of Heart."
