Jerry Jenson, 42, Velva, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, in a Minot hospital.
Jerry was born on Feb. 18, 1969, a son of Eugene and Donna (Vining) Jenson, in Kimball, Neb. He was raised and educated in Velva, where he was active in sports, music and academic activities. Jerry graduated as salutatorian from Velva High School in 1988. Jerry furthered his education attending North Dakota State University, where he played football and graduated with an engineering degree in 1993.
Following his college graduation, Jerry worked for Fargo Glass & Paint Co. in Minot until 2001. Jerry was diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, in October 2000. He fought a courageous battle for 10 and a half years against this incurable disease. His good nature and fantastic smile never faltered, even on the last day of his life.
Jerry is survived by: Parents, Gene and Donna Jenson; sisters, Crystal (Dan Klein) Kambeitz and Bonnie (Lonny) Hillerud; brother, Dirk (Melinda) Jenson; nieces, Danielle (Cassandra Brekke) Cooper, Brianne (Tim Kepple) Kambeitz, Brittany Hillerud, Katie Jenson; nephews, Nick Jenson and Richie Kambeitz, and great-nephews, Kage and Odin. Several aunts, uncles and friends also survive.
Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Olen and Alice Vining; Eugene and Vivian Jenson; and a great-nephew, Angel Michael Kambeitz.
Memorial service: Thursday, May 5, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Living Word Lutheran Church, located at 710-46th Ave. NE, Minot.
Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, people may sign a guest register on Thursday, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Jerry's family would appreciate memorials to the ALS organization for research to help find a cure for the terrible disease that took Jerry from us too soon.
