Flooding near Minot

A vehicle has just gone through this section of County Road 17 where water is going over the road near the Roughrider Campground west of Minot, shown in this photo taken late Saturday afternoon. Signs on both sides of the flooded section of the road urged drivers to proceed with caution because of the water on the road. Many roads in North Dakota are flooded, caused by overland flooding or rivers and lakes overflowing.

This photo, taken late Saturday afternoon, shows a portion of the north end of County Road 17 at the left and the flooding on the west side of the road. The Souris River winds its way through this area as it goes east and into Minot. Today will be the highest level the river has been all spring.
