The North Dakota National Guard's 188th Army Band, along with the Minot State University Concert Band, will host a Winter Concert.
The university band will kick off the event at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in MSU's Ann Nicole Nelson Hall, followed by the 188th Army Band. They will join forces for two selections to close the concert, which is free and open to all ages.
Attendees will be treated to classic and contemporary wind literature pieces, as well as patriotic selections and other easily recognizable numbers.
Joseph Alme serves as the director of bands for the Minot State University Concert Band, while Warrant Officer David J. Stordalen, of Saint James, Minn., commands and conducts the 188th Army Band while Sgt. 1st Class Donald Nagle, of Grand Forks, serves as the senior enlisted conductor.
The 188th Army Band's mission is to provide music through the spectrum of military operations and to instill in soldiers the will to fight and win, to foster the support of citizens, to promote national interests at home and abroad, and to entertain audiences. The band has provided music to the citizens of North Dakota for more than 120 years.
